Firefighters were working to douse a fire burning at a house near Downtown Long Beach Sunday evening.

The second-alarm blaze broke out around 6:20 p.m. near Daisy Avenue and 10th Street, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin said.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building, he said.

They were still working the scene at about 7 p.m.
