Long Beach firefighters were working on knocking down a brush fire on the beach bluff on Ocean Boulevard between Temple and Molino avenues Thursday afternoon.

The fire started just before 4:45 p.m., fire department spokesman Jake Heflin said. Several people reported the fire.

Police officers shut down westbound traffic on Ocean Boulevard at Temple Avenue. Lifeguards are also shutting down the bike path in the area, Heflin said.

Two fire engines and two lifeguard units assisted in the incident, he said.

Firefighters cleared the incident by about 5:45 p.m.
