A central Long Beach Dollar Tree sustained moderate internal damage Sunday afternoon following a second-alarm fire, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 12:15 p.m., according to LBFD Spokesperson Capt. Jack Crabtree. Firefighters arrived on scene around 12:19 p.m. and the fire was extinguished within eight minutes at 12:27 p.m. Moderate smoke was seen coming from the front door of the store at 1840 Long Beach Blvd.

According to Crabtree, the fire was caused by a woman in her early 40s who started multiple fires inside the store. Shortly after 1 p.m. the woman was located near the site and detained, Crabtree said.

At one point, seven fire engines were requested to subdue the blaze. According to Crabtree, the store was evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are on scene investigating the cause of the fire which was described to be contents inside the building.
