10:30am | It’s that time again. The monthly event that is quickly becoming a Long Beach staple, First Fridays, will roll into the Bixby Knolls area this Friday and bring with it a mixture of arts, music and other street performances sure to draw huge crowds.
Held in the streets and restaurants of Atlantic Avenue on the first Friday of each month, First Fridays has been able to attract growing numbers with a lively set of artists and events aimed at getting people out of their homes and interacting in the community.
This Friday’s event, sponsored by the Port of Long Beach, will feature more of the same creativity that has made First Fridays a local phenomenon.
Among the fun will be hip-hop dance troupe Culture Shock LA performing at District 8 skate shop on Atlantic, while students from Hughes Middle School and Longfellow Elementary hold an expo to educate visitors about local recycling programs and other tips to go green.
All the while, live music will be flowing out of restaurants and into the streets, which will also be flooded by local artwork and classic cars and motorcycles. There’s truly something for everyone, even fans of live improv. Hosted by HELD2gether, Improv Comedy Night begins at 7:00pm at Elise’s Tea Room at 3924 Atlantic Avenue
