According to reports from a wide variety of news sources, five freshmen at Poly High School were arrested after on charges of sexual battery during a lunch break incident on campus last week, as the male students allegedly groped two female students. Three of the males have been suspended and the other two were transferred to nearby schools.

The incident is attracting considerable exposure from media sources nationwide, including the Associated Press and the LA Daily News after the Press-Telegram broke the story last Friday.

Today, the LA Weekly takes a downright bizarre stance on the incident, beginning with their title: “High Schoolers Nabbed For … Grabbing Booty.” The author begins one paragraph with, “Not to belittle the inappropriateness of the groping…” and then proceeds to belittle the inappropriateness of the groping.

The names of those responsible have not been released because they are minors, although some are members of the school’s football and basketball teams. What is known is that the group surrounded and cornered their female classmates near the campus student store, according to the P-T.
