2:45pm | Former Long Beach Police Chief Anthony Batts has announced his intention to resign as Oakland’s police chief where he has served since leaving Long Beach in 2009. His resignation is effective in “mid-November” according to a letter from Oakland City Administrator Deanna Santana.
According to OaklandLocal:
“Given that Oakland just received a grant to hire back 25 police officers–one of Batt’s big complaints was the cut in staffing–this news comes as a surprise to many.”
