Cabrillo High School will hold a free H1N1 Virus vaccine clinic for students aged 3-18 from 3:00pm-7:00pm tonight, as part of the Long Beach Health Department’s plan to provide vaccinations to those most at risk, such as youth. A similar clinic will be held tomorrow night at Jordan High School. More clinics are planned and will be announced when the city receives more shipments of the vaccine.

The department is also hosting a free community clinic for the public this Saturday from 9:00am-4:00pm at the Long Beach Convention Center, where vaccines will be provided for anyone who falls into one of the target groups below:

  • Child or young adult (between ages of 6 months and 24 years)
  • Pregnant
  • Caretaker of an infant under 6 months of age
  • People aged 24-64 with chronic medical conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes)
  • Healthcare workers
  • Emergency medical providers

The department advises everyone to take standard precautions as we head into the flu season, such as washing your hands frequently and staying home from work or school when feeling ill.
