The general manager and sommelier at Chianina Steakhouse, Alejandro G. Duran, has died, according to family and friends. Community members have scheduled a toast tonight at Chianina to honor his life.

According to social media reports and news site Austin 360, Duran died unexpectedly of a heart attack Monday.

“We’ve lost an amazing, father, husband, mentor, role model, and friend,” wrote an individual named Bradley in an Instagram post. “You are missed, papa, but you will be celebrated. If you are around tonight come by @chianinasteakand raise a glass in honor of our Leader.”

Chianina has garnered plenty of attention for serving up its quality, rare cut of meat from Chianina cattle. But the restaurant’s service has also placed the restaurant miles ahead of many in the area, with Duran’s cheery smile greeting customers on the restaurant’s busy nights.
