Heavy traffic at the port complex on Tuesday temporarily shut down the westbound lanes of the International Gateway Bridge, rerouting drivers coming from Long Beach through Terminal Island.

Port of Long Beach spokesperson Lee Peterson said the closure was due to trucking backups at two terminals in the Port of Los Angeles, leading to delays on the westbound bridge.

The lanes were reopened to traffic as of 4:53 p.m.
