Police officers picked up a gun from a major roadway in Long Beach as traffic was ramping up Friday morning, authorities said.

Someone called police after spotting the gun around 7:55 a.m. near the center median on the westbound side of the Gerald Desmond Bridge, Long Beach police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

Officers quickly found the gun and booked it into evidence, she said.

Dandoy said she did not know what kind of gun it was or whether it was loaded. However, she said there were no signs of foul play.

It’s not clear at this point how the gun got there.
