Since today, August 19, marks “Aviation Day” – which of course, you already knew – the Wings Over Long Beach Foundation took the chance to announce that their annual airshow weekend will return to the Long Beach Airport this November 15 and 16, featuring a technology job fair, featured speakers from aerospace firms and of course, an impressive array of planes.
Boeing C-17 Globemaster, Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, Lockheed F-16 Falcon, a Predator UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), C-130 Hercules, Douglas DC-3, North American P-51 Mustang, North American AT-6D, a N2S-3 Stearman and other historical aircraft have all RSVP’d. Updates and more info can be found at the website, here.
Visitors will be able to take scenic rides in an historic Stearman bi-plane for a fee, and free flights will also be available in general aircraft thanks to the Experimental Aircraft Association and their “Young Eagles” program. Food, music, vendors and activities will also be featured along the Long Beach Airport runway, where the event will be held.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for students and military. Parking in the Boeing lot is $5. Carpooling or public transportation is encouraged. See website for details. Proceeds are directed to youth programs and scholarships that support them in finding employment and careers in the aerospace industry.
