Groundwork Fitness has begun to roll out their “Keep LBC Fit” campaign, an initiative to get people moving, whether that means encouraging locals to find their center at yoga on the bluff, to attempt the fitness loop at Houghton Park, or just to take a walk around the block. In an effort to promote this Long Beach movement toward movement, downtown’s surly neighborhood gym is throwing a photography contest for artists and athletes of all fitness levels alike.
Submissions will be judged by which shot shows the most creativity, the best movement, and is the most inspirational. Participants must submit no more than one photo of only one person performing an exercise. The person in the shot can be doing any form of exercise, as long as it’s taken somewhere in Long Beach and the subject is in mid-movement when captured.
The talented sisters of Carrillo + Decoux photography and the Groundwork Fitness Training Team will use the aforementioned guidelines to select the winning photo, which will be featured right here on the Long Beach Post website, as well as on the Press Telegram’s Facebook Page.
On Saturday, April 18, at 2:00PM the winning photograph will be unveiled at the “Keep LBC Fit Interactive Obstacle Course,” a free, family-friendly event to be held at Lincoln Park in Downtown Long Beach. From noon to 2:00PM, everyone is invited to try out the course, the water balloon race and to get their groove on during the music and dance contest. Water and snacks will be provided at the finish line and a wellness tent will be located on site where attendees can get their blood pressure and heart rate checked, as well.
Whether you’ve photographed a friend—or even yourself—jumping, climbing, cycling, stretching, or or just getting out and working up a sweat, submit your best work by mid-April and become a part of the movement to get outside, get creative and get fit.
Please email your submissions to [email protected] by Wednesday, April 15. For more information about Keep LBC Fit, click here.
