The MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute will partner with Lipstick Angels to bring complimentary beauty services to patients, the two announced this week. A kick-off mixer this Saturday will celebrate this first-time collaboration between the institute and the philanthropic organization.
The Lipstick Angels’ mission is to provide beauty services to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in an effort to restore dignity and a sense of hope to their lives. A release issued this week by Lipstick Angels and MemorialCare said patients are often at their most vulnerable in a hospital setting and their outlook on life may be improved through the time and care taken to emphasize their best features, if just for a moment.
Lipstick Angels founder, Renata Helfman, a celebrity makeup artist of more than 15 years will be present to greet patients and thank participants. According to the Lipstick Angels website, Helfman’s vision is to “make Lipstick Angels a program that is accessible to all women patients in hospitals who need a boost to remind them of the special women that they all are.”
The institute understands that coping with the physical appearance effects of treatment can be extremely difficult for current and former patients, and they are seeking to restore “positivity” back in patients’ lives. Current cancer patients and survivors will receive customized makeovers and facials from these beauty industry professionals.
The MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Memorial is dedicated to the early diagnosis, treatment, research and education of cancer. Recognized as one of the top two cancer centers in Southern California for having the lowest complication rate, TCI treats more than 2,000 people annually.
The Todd Cancer Pavilion is located at 2810 Long Beach Blvd.
