A cellphone- and water-selling business was ordered closed Monday afternoon, August 24, when a Long Beach health inspector found live cockroaches in the facility, according to city health officials.

Planet Water & Cellular, located at 1410 Atlantic Avenue, was found harboring more than five live cockroaches in a cabinet at the time of inspection, and also had dead cockroaches and dry mouse droppings in the facility, a health inspection report stated.

Other problems found at the store included broken and damaged water faucets and ceilings, dirty floors, and an out-of-date state license for water purification/infiltration that expired in 1999, according to the report.

The store—which sells cellphones, cell phone accessories, ice cream and water, among other things—was scheduled to be re-inspected on Tuesday, August 25 and Monday, September 14.
