The City of Long Beach announced its list of facilities and services that will remain open and those that will be closed in observance with the upcoming winter holidays.

Open on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31: 

  • City-run COVID-19 testing sites at Long Beach City College – Pacific Coast Campus and Houghton Park, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (all other city-run testing sites closed)
  • Fire stations and lifeguard stations 
  • All city parks and trails, including El Dorado Regional Park and El Dorado Nature Center 
  • Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina and Shoreline Marina open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) 
  • Main police station front desk 
  • Refuse and Recycling Collection (offices will be closed but refuse and recycling will be collected as usual) 
  • Gas Services dispatch (562-570-2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls 
  • Water/Sewer dispatch (562-570-2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls  

Closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31: 

  • Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including pickup services and Library offices (library patrons are encouraged to utilize the library’s vast collection of digital resources, including the library catalog, downloads and databases, which are available 24/7.)
  • Building and Safety Services, including inspections, plan reviews and Permit Center 
  • City Hall (While City Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, the public is encouraged to take advantage of the online resources available on the City of Long Beach website at longbeach.gov, as well as bill payment options available on the Financial Services website.)
  • Citizen Police Complaint Commission 
  • City Prosecutor’s office  
  • City-run COVID-19 test sites (excluding testing sites at Long Beach City College – Pacific Coast Campus and Houghton Park, which will operate both days from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • Code Enforcement Services

City services and facilities closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), but open on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 (New Year’s Day):  

  • El Dorado Regional Park 

Street Sweeping: There will be no street sweeping and enforcement violations on Friday, Dec. 24, or Friday, Dec. 31. 

Parking Enforcement: Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. Violations will also be enforced on Saturday, Dec. 25, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, unless the meter states “Exempt on Holidays.” The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters. 

Refuse/RecyclingRefuse and Recycling will be collected as scheduled on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. Collection will not occur on Saturday, Dec. 25, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. Customers with scheduled collection on Saturdays will occur the day before on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, respectively. Towing and Lien Sales: The Towing Operations & Vehicle Storage Facility, located at 3111 E. Willow St. between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue, will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. Normal business hours are: 

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Closed Sunday and holidays.
