According to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), the person believed responsible for the hit-and-run collision that occurred on June 9 has been arrested. The fatal accident at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Linden Avenue caused the death of 51-year-old Yolanda Archuleta of San Pedro.
Accident Investigations Detective Brian Watt took on the incident and, with the assistance of West Patrol Division officers, were able to discover the suspect vehicle — a black 1993 Accord — at a residence in the 1500 block of Cedar Avenue. The vehicle had front-end damage consistent with having recently been involved in a collision.
Through further investigation, police identified a suspect they tracked to the city of Carson. At approximately 1:30pm yesterday, Long Beach Police arrested 34-year-old Argon Sabas of Long Beach at his place of employment. He was booked for vehicular manslaughter and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail. Investigators were also able to identify the female passenger in the vehicle and the investigation remains ongoing.
