Long Beach Memorial Hospital will hold a seminar this weekend to increase awareness about the No. 1 killer of women: heart disease and stroke.

The annual seminar is held every February, which is National Heart Awareness Month. This year, experts will offer screenings to help women better understand the disease. Participants will also learn early detection techniques.

The Women’s Heart Health and Stroke Seminar will be held this Saturday, February 6, from 7:30am to 3:30pm, at Houssel’s Forum at 2801 Atlantic Avenue. Admission is $20 for lunch, the seminar and heart screenings.

Twice as many American women die from heart disease and stroke than all other types of cancer combined. Physicians, heart specialists and local survivors will conduct sessions to bring awareness to this “silent killer.” Call 1-800-MEMORIAL for more information.
