It’s that time of year again. Brand new folders in brand new backpacks, sack lunches freshly creased inside brown paper bags and pictures taken in those first day of school clothes.

That’s right, today is the first day of school for Long Beach Unified School District students.

But it could be a difficult, trying year for students and the school system itself. The Long Beach Unified School District has been plagued by budget cuts for the past few years, and they are impacting classrooms in the form of increased class sizes, teacher layoffs, a reduced school year, limited bus schedules and more.

It all begs the question: How would you improve Long Beach schools?

Can improvements be made with the faculty? The administrators? The unions, evaluations, testing or even the curriculum?

We want to know what you would like to see happen to improve Long Beach Unified School District so share your thoughts and join the discussion below.
