The Long Beach Public Library Foundation is already off to a fast summer, hosting a huge online auction that has already raised nearly $20,000 and recently launching a new website for the auction that makes it easy to shop and bid on deals.

The Foundation will use proceeds to fund the city’s 12 public libraries with supplemental literacy programs such as Family Learning Centers and Raising A Reader.

The online auction will close tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th, but there are still plenty of excellent items to bid on from a USC football autographed by head coach Pete Carroll to dinner with Councilman Gary Delong, autographed Grand Prix pictures and the sensation of flying a Boeing 717.  The auction has thus far raised $19,346, and with only 47% of items receiving a bid, there are plenty of steals to be had.

The Top 10 Referrers will be awarded a gift certificate, with a Grand Prize of $50 to Barnes & Noble.  Runners up will receive a $10 Gift Card to Starbucks.  A minimum of 10 referrals is required to be eligible for a prize.

Some items will be exclusively auctioned next Sunday, June 22, in live bidding hosted by Randy Gordon.  Nancy Foster, the Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Foundation and Darrell & Sue Cannon will be recognized at the event.  A gourmet five-course meal comes with the purchase of a ticket, which you can inquire about by calling (562) 628-2411.
