Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn announced today that she is officially running for Lieutenant Governor. Hahn currently represents the San Pedro area on the Los Angeles City Council. lbpost.com reported here back in September 2009 that Hahn opened an exploratory committee to run for Lieutenant Governor.

The Hahn campaign released a statement today saying: After receiving enthusiastic response from people up and down the state, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn has decided to make official her run for lieutenant governor of California. Today, she announced the team that will lead her campaign for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in 2010.

Hahn was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2001 representing the communities of Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, San Pedro, Watts and Wilmington.

As previously reported by the lbpost.com, Hahn joins Long Beach-area State Senator Alan Lowenthal who opened his committee earlier this year as reported here and in an exclusive interview here . Also in the race is central valley State Senator Dean Florez.
