The service from Long Beach Airport to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport begins today.

The new service makes JetBlue the only airline to offer southern Los Angeles travelers service to Anchorage, its 14th nonstop service from Long Beach, according to a media release
“We’re thrilled to add Anchorage to our growing list of destinations,” said JetBlue’s senior vice president of marketing and commercial strategy, Marty St. George, in a statement. “Summer is the best time to visit our northernmost state, and we’re proud to offer our customers another option in the L.A. Basin, as the only airline flying to Anchorage out of Long Beach and the southern Los Angeles region. Plus, with the extended daylight hours, our customers can look forward to playing midnight golf soon after they touch down in Anchorage.”
The daily flights will depart Long beach at 7:40 p.m. and arrive in Anchorage at 11:57 p.m. Travelers heading southward will depart Anchorage at 1:10 a.m. and touch down in Long Beach at 7:32 a.m.
Mayor Bob Foster said in a statement that he is pleased with the addition of the seasonal service.
“The airport is undergoing several new changes such as a new parking structure and terminal building. This new route to Anchorage, Alaska, is another great addition for Long Beach residents and visitors alike,” Foster said.
According to the release, customers flying out of Long Beach on Monday night’s inaugural flight will be treated to a few surprises on board, including the attendance of Miss Alaska, city of Anchorage mascot Seymour the Moose and moose antlers. When the plane touches down, passengers will be greeted by traditional sled dogs pulling the first luggage off the plane as well as native Alaskan dancers and music.
