Joe Buscaino Beats Warren Furutani in LA Council Race.

2:15pm | Assemblyman Warren Furutani, who represents portions of Downtown, West, and North Long Beach in the State Assembly, lost his bid to replace now-Congresswoman Janice Hahn in the Los Angeles City Council Race. LA Police Officer and political newcomer Joe Buscaino thumped Furutani by 20 points in the race to represent San Pedro, Watts and Harbor City.

Buscaino, considered a local favorite son by many in San Pedro, was supported by the Los Angeles Police Protective League and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Furutani had the support of most of the Los Angeles Democratic establishment and organized labor.
