According to the L.A. Times, some Southern Californians still think of Long Beach as “that city with the Queen Mary.” But an article in today’s edition explains that this is no longer the case.
The story highlights several downtown attractions for all times of the day – including whale watching and the Aquarium of the Pacific, vintage furniture and clothing stores, coffee houses, art galleries, and dinner and drink hotspots.
It’s all part of the city of Long Beach’s recent efforts to attract more outsiders to the downtown culture and nightlife. In that regard, Long Beach has been a hidden jewel for some time now. The only real question is, Long Beach is known to outsiders as the city “associated with the great ocean liner?”
It has been 40 years, after all.
