Rescue crews rushed to the Los Angeles River in Long Beach this morning after getting reports of a vehicle in the water that was being washed down the channel, according to authorities.

Long Beach fire crews got a call from LA County Fire Department this morning before 8 a.m. alerting them to a vehicle that fell into the river and was making its way down to the Long Beach area.

LBFD crews responded to the river and set up personnel to watch for the vehicle at bridges along the channel, but by about 8:30 a.m., they hadn’t been able to locate it.

Some crews will continue to search for the vehicle, but most were called off, according to a spokesperson for the Long Beach Fire Department.

Editor’s note: LBFD officials initially said the vehicle had been briefly spotted near the Del Amo bridge, but they later clarified that was incorrect and the vehicle has so far not been located.
