The Los Angeles Times today looks into the puzzling shooting death of 23-year old Long Beach native Jesus Nava that occurred in mid-December.
Police were originally investigating the shooting as possibly-gang related, but have since determined that Nava had no gang ties and there is no apparent reason for the shooting that took his life near the intersection of 11th & Orange.
The Times also ran a nearly-identical blog post on Nava on December 30, expanding on their coverage today. The article depicts a family struggling with the recession and trying to cope with the loss of a relative that seemed to be doing all of the right things. The family laid Nava to rest on December 23 and was so distraught they did not celebrate Christmas.
