The Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club has endorsed three candidates in the upcoming March 3rd city council race in Signal Hill: Mayor Michael Noll, Vice Mayor Ellen Ward and Edward Villanueva.
The Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club Political Action Committee interviewed the candidates who responded to their questionnaires and recommended that the Club endorse the trio. At the Lambda General meeting, the club voted in favor the recommendation unanimously.
Unlike Long Beach, Council members in Signal Hill do not represent specific districts, but are elected at large for a four-year term, and there are no term limits. There are currently three openly LGBT Council members in Signal Hill: Noll, Ward and Council member Larry Forester. Villanueva is a newly married heterosexual who has been a long-time supporter of all Civil Rights, including LGBT rights.
Villanueva says, “I’m excited and proud to receive the Lambda Democratic Club endorsement. It exemplifies my commitment to equality, diversity and civil rights in our community.”
