The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detained two people, at least one of whom is suspected of possessing a firearm, near Lakewood High School, authorities said.

Few details were immediately available, but sheriffs said they responded to a call of a person with a firearm near the high school.

“They detained the people and they resolved the issue,” said LASD spokesperson Deputy Miguel Meza-Palomo. “I don’t know if they arrested anyone or whether it was true or not that they had a gun, but they detained some people, did their investigation and there is nobody outstanding.”

According to an alert sent out by Lakewood High School, two individuals were detained and were not Lakewood students nor affiliated with Long Beach Unified School District. The school did implement a precautionary lockdown in response to the incident between 2:20-2:35 p.m. School operations resumed by 3 p.m., according to the statement.

“Students and staff remained safe,” the statement said.
