10:00am | Even in death, local bookstore Acres Of Books is finding ways to give bookworms their fix.
The iconic store, which turned its last page last year as the block will be razed and redeveloped, will hold a giveaway day this weekend.
From 3:30-7:00pm, you can enjoy the gift of Acres one last time by buying a crate for $25 and filling it with all the books it can hold. There are over 25,000 books still lining the walls of the store and about 2,500 collectible vintage crates. There will also be refreshments and music inside.
The building will become the new site for the ArtExchange (click here for designs), and construction begins soon, so this is your final opportunity to take in the slow drink of Acres. The event is also being held in conjunction with the Swing Saturday event taking place in the East Village nearby, as part of LongBeach’s Summer and Music series.
