BREAKING, 9:55AM | The House Committee on Ethics announced this morning that it has voted unanimously to reprimand and fine Democratic Representative Laura Richardson for misusing her staff and attempting to obstruct the subsequent investigation into the allegations.

According to Politico, Richardson—whose current district includes large portions of Long Beach—has agreed to the seven charges against her, which includes forcing aides and members of her staff to work on re-election campaign and other personal activities, actions that are in direct violation of House rules. She must pay the $10,000 fine by December 1.

The full House now must vote to adopt the Ethics Committee’s report to officially reprimand Richardson. This is expected to happen this week before Congress adjourns for the August recess.

Richardson is up for re-election in a newly-redistricted district, which includes a smaller portion of Long Beach, against another local incumbent, Democratic Representative Janice Hahn.
