In the latest litigation news concerning the Port of Long Beach’s Clean Trucks Program – and there has been plenty – the Federal Maritime Commission announced Tuesday that it will drop its case against the program, citing a reversal of position due to the change from the Bush to Obama Administrations. A press release from the commission speaks very highly of the program, pointing out that it has implemented 4,500 clean or alternative fuel trucks since its implementation in October 2008, and announcing that the plan is ahead of schedule in its goal to reduce truck pollution by 80%.
