Long Beach Heritage will host a dinner gala on Thursday, Feb. 21, to honor individuals and organizations that have shown outstanding stewardship of the city’s architectural and cultural landscape. This year’s Long Beach Heritage Awards Benefit pays special tribute to Long Beach architect Richard Poper, AIA. He will be receiving the organization’s Excellence in Architecture Award. Nine other awards recognizing preservations – in all forms – of Long Beach’s rich built environment will also be presented that evening.

Tickets are available for $95 ($45 is tax deductible).  Admission provides access to a no-host bar and silent auction, dinner and the awards ceremony.  Proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction help Long Beach Heritage provide educational and advocacy programs throughout the year, as well as operate the organization’s historic Bembridge House at Drake Park.

Items donated and available at the auction include two tickets to the 2008 Catalina JAZZTRAX Festival Oct. 3-5; a weekend at the Hyatt Newport and dinner for two; a Justin Rudd photograph session; a private cocktail party and living history tour at Rancho Los Cerritos for 10 guests; a private tour of Omega Cinema Props movie prop house and dinner for two at Musso & Frank’s; a VIP booth and bottle of champagne at Sachi nightclub; a four-person Segway tour of historic Long Beach, an annual family pass to the Museum of Latin American Art; fabulous gift baskets and much more. Also at this year’s gala, guests can participate in an opportunity drawing for a $300 shopping spree at South Coast Plaza. Five opportunity drawing tickets cost $20 or $5 for one.
