The Cessna Aircraft Company recently closed their doors at the Long Beach Airport for Mesa, Arizona and is trying to woo 80 jobs with them. The Arizona Republic reports on this transition saying the company wants to expand and needs more space to grow to 101,000 square feet of space. That footage is double their Long Beach facility size.

 

It’s a little troublesome to read the article knowing that those jobs and those families are leaving our community for Arizona. Could more have been done by our city officials to save those jobs?

 

Nevertheless, we do need to be aware that from the perspective of people in Mesa, Long Beach’s loss is their gain.
