7:00am | The City of Long Beach announced late last week that its cable channel, LBTV, received nine government programming STAR Awards, including three first place awards. The STAR Awards recognize outstanding community television programming produced by local jurisdictions serving California and Nevada communities.
LBTV received first place STAR Awards for coverage of the Long Beach Bike Festival (Community Event), the station’s Web Site, and for “SportsBreak” in the Sports Show category. Second place awards were received for “iClips” (Environmental); Long Beach Census 2010 PSA (Promotional); and the prestigious Overall Excellence award. Third place awards were received for “Heart of the City” (Talk Show), coverage of City Council meetings (Public/Community Meetings), and “Snapshot Long Beach” (Magazine). LBTV received an award for each category in which it was nominated.
LBTV can be viewed in Long Beach on Charter Communications’ cable channel 3, Verizon’s FiOS TV Channel 21, and on the Internet at www.LBTV3.com.

The STAR awards were announced during the States of California and Nevada National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SCAN NATOA) annual conference in Long Beach.
