The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach (The Center) is hosting a series of community conversations this month, geared toward garnering feedback on how to best utilize resources, in a way that maximizes community impact. The first conversation will commence Friday, December 16 at 7:00PM at The Center, focusing on the transgender and gender non-conforming community, followed by three more.
The free conversations are open to all and will focus on the North Long Beach community, senior citizens, transgender and gender non-conforming people, as well as the general LGBTQ community, according to The Center.
“It’s critical for our Center to remain open to evolution in order to continue to meet the needs of everyone in our LGBTQ community,” said Executive Director Porter Gilberg in a statement. “As part of our commitment to supporting those most underserved in Long Beach we are excited to hear from as many people as possible to learn more about how we can best meet these needs.”
“Trans people continue to be underserved in Long Beach,” said Board Chair and President LaDawn Best in a statement. “Our Center is committed to increasing services for our trans and gender nonconforming community and we look forward to hearing about how we can provide a more robust array of services.”
The three additional conversations are slated to also occur, as follows:
- Monday, December 19 | North Long Beach community conversation, at Vice Mayor Rex Richardson’s field office
- Tuesday, December 20 | A conversation for LGBTQ people of all ages at The Center
- Wednesday, December 21 | A final conversation for LGBTQ senior citizens at The Center
