The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach has announced that it will again open its doors to the community for its Thanksgiving and Christmas Day holiday meals, games and social activities. Now in its fifth year, The Center’s holiday meal program is open to anyone and everyone seeking companionship, company and community during this upcoming wet and wintry holiday season.

The Center has hosted nearly 100 community members at each event in previous years, according to the announcement. The Center employees and volunteers serve at each function, providing guests with a full holiday meal, including beverages, entrees and dessert to finish. Group activities include holiday trivia and board games for all ages.

“We are thrilled to offer a space for community members to drop in on Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said The Center’s Executive Director, Porter Gilberg, in a statement. “We invite anyone looking to connect this season to join us for a delicious holiday meal with great company.”

Support for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas Day events is provided by 4th District Supervisor Don Knabe. The events will take place on Thursday, November 26 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM and on Friday, December 25 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM for Christmas. To RSVP call 562.434.4455, ext. 230 or email [email protected].

Guests seeking more information on The Center’s programs and services will be able to connect directly with staff and volunteers working the events. The Center serves 25,000 clients annually through several programs including HIV/STI testing and treatment, mental health counseling, youth and seniors services, domestic violence services, hate crimes support, cyber center, legal clinic, support groups and more.
