Prospective parents within the LGBTQ community will have the opportunity to delve into the specifics of expanding their families through a special, free half-day symposium hosted by The Center Long Beach and The LA Gay & Lesbian Center.
The symposium, featuring workshops as well as experienced LGBTQ parents discussing their own families, will examine public and private adoptions, legal aspects of LGBTQ parenting, insemination and surrogacy options, as well as a focus on those interested in parenting special needs children. And of course, representatives local agencies in many of the aforementioned areas, including OB/GYN services, will be hand to meet and engage with.
“This is a great opportunity for LGBT couples and singles interested in learning more about growing their families,” stated Porter Gilberg, Administrative Director at The Center Long Beach, in a released statement. “There are so many LGBT affirming agencies out there to support our community as we establish our own modern families and we are so excited to partner with the LA Center to welcome these agencies and the community to our upcoming symposium.”
A growing response within Long Beach in regards to providing such services prompted The Center here in Long Beach to pair with its L.A. sister organization.
This event is free and open to the public. The symposium is scheduled from 8:30AM to 1:00PM on February 9 at The Center Long Beach, located at 2017 E 4th Street. To RSVP contact Gilberg at (562) 434-4455 ext. 245.
