After two previous years of running through the streets half-naked (well, mostly naked), Gay Entertainment Directory (GED Magazine) is bringing the Long Beach Santa Fun Run back to benefit the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, specifically their Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment (MYTE) after school program, as well as the AIDS Food Store of Long Beach, with donations of non-perishable food items.

The Fun Run will take place on Sunday, December 6 at 12:30PM, starting at Paradise Bar for pre-run drink specials, photos and a meet-and-greet with “Santa’s sexy elves.” The run will start around 2:30PM and head down Broadway to Hamburger Mary’s.

Break out that box of holiday attire from last year’s festivities and dress in your skimpiest outfit, “throw modesty to the winter wind and dash across town on an easy 1.5 mile route,” the announcement encouraged. Speedos, santa hats, jingle balls (ahem, bells) are all appropriate apparel for this event. And don’t worry, if you’re not a runner, you can always walk, skip or shimmy and sashay your way through the route.

Guests can register individually on two different levels. At $50 plus a non-perishable food item, participants who choose “COMET” will receive registration for one person, the after-party luncheon at Hamburger Mary’s, an event T-Shirt, a Santa Hat and five raffle tickets. At $20 with a non-perishable food donation, participants who choose “PRANCER” will get to attend the after-party luncheon.

“Come in your holiday attire. All are welcome!” said Michael Westman, Editor of GED Magazine, in a statement. “We are hoping for a substantial turn out to support great causes in our community. If you can’t run, we encourage you to be out on Broadway cheering on the runners to show your support.”

The Fun Run will end at Hamburger Mary’s in downtown Long Beach which will host the After-Party featuring the well-deserved luncheon, drink specials, raffle prizes and last but not least, awards for the runner sporting the most festive outfit.

The event is made possible by Hamburger Mary’s, Paradise Bar and Restaurant and other local businesses contributing funds and resources to make this wonderful a focused and successful effort to support two wonderful causes close to home.
