If you’re looking for an art gallery with soul, the best museum in town may be the Picture This (click here for their website) custom framing shop on Carson & Norse Way, after yesterday’s opening of the second annual Motivational Art Exhibit.  The pieces were created by at-risk youth from around the Southland, most between the ages of 15 and 18.  Picture This owner Marisol Gomez says she’s proud to host the exhibit.

“I want [the kids] to realize that even though they may feel the weight of the world on their shoulders and think they can’t do anything, they can,” she said.  “They have the power to make positive change.”

In fact, it’s a requirement to participate in the showing.  All displayed work is for sale, and half of the proceeds will go directly to the artists.  The other half?  That goes to a charity of their choosing, one of the ways in which Gomez and co-creator Danny Flores encourage the artists to get involved in their community.

Picture This is open Tuesday through Friday from 12pm-5pm, and Saturday from 10am-4pm.  It’s located at 4130 Norse Way.
