11:00am | Music students from all seven Long Beach high schools will get a special holiday present this year: Free tickets to the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra annual Holiday Celebration concert this December 11.

“This orchestra exists to enrich the lives of everyone in Long Beach,” said Robert Jones, Executive Director of the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. “Making it more available, accessible, and affordable, especially to these young music students who may aspire to be either onstage or in the audience in the years ahead, is the goal that we share with our generous sponsor partners.”

The Holiday Celebration concerts are held this Saturday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 2:00pm, and will feature special presentations of multi-cultural favorites like Mele Kalikimaka, Feliz Navidad and Chanukah songs performed by the Southern California Master Chorale and led by guest conductor Stuart Chafetz. Special guest volcalist Michele Ragusa will also join professional dancers and the Southern California Children’s Chorus, among others.

Tickets begin at $25 and can be purchased at LBSO.org or 562.436.3203.

Visitors can also bring canned food or personal hygiene items to contribute to the Long Beach Community Food Drive, which seeks to accumulate 100,000 pounds of food this holiday season. The Terrace Theater is a designated drop-off point for the drive. Anyone who brings items to donate will receive a free LBSO tot bag (one per family).
