By sticking to their slogan, “One life at a time…” Olive Crest Homes and Services for Abused Children has been helping abandoned and neglected children since 1973. The organization also connects children in need with safe homes and loving families. Children who would normally be at great risk to dropout of school are thriving and succeeding thanks to Olive Crest’s educational programs and commitment to mentorship.
In order to continue providing top-quality care to the community, Olive Crest will hold its third annual “An Education For Every Child” fundraiser on Wednesday, July 8, from 2:30pm-6:00pm at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. Proceeds from the event raise funds for Olive Crest’s educational programs, which serve at-risk children and teens, and also provide scholarships for college students.
Olive Crest serves children and families all over the South Bay area, with many of them hailing from Long Beach. Robbin Hatten is a Long Beach resident, part-time Olive Crest employee and adoptive mother.
“Fundraisers like ‘An Education for Every Child’ make it possible for Olive Crest to provide its great services to families and kids throughout Southern California,” Hatten says.
The keynote speaker at tomorrow’s event will be ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes, who famously ran fifty marathons in fifty different cities – in fifty consecutive days! Karnazes was recently named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People In The World, and recently published his first book Ultramarathon Man: Confessions Of An All-Night Runner.
