The lbpost.com has learned that the Long Beach Armada minor league baseball team will cease operations as of today, according to sources close to the situation.
Founded in 2005, the Armada played at Blair Field and was part of the Golden Baseball League.
The move is almost certainly a direct result of ongoing negotiations to bring Blair Field under the full-time control of Long Beach State, which had been trying to acquire the field for nearly a year. Long Beach State athletics director Vic Cegles said today that he had not heard the news and that no deal is yet in place, but that negotiations have been going smoothly.
