3:15pm | Long Beach attorney John P. Blumberg recently announced that he has been certified as a legal malpractice specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
Statewide, only 30 attorneys have received a legal malpractice certification, Blumberg said.
It is Blumberg’s third specialist certification. He was previously certified as a civil trial lawyer by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and as a medical malpractice specialist by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.
He is president of downtown Long Beach’s Blumberg Law Corporation, which is comprised of five attorneys. The firm, which has been located downtown since 1954, specializes in counseling, trials and appeals of matters involving professional negligence, elder abuse, injury, real estate and business.Blumberg, who has practiced law in Long Beach since 1976, sits on the board of governors of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and the national board of directors of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
He is a past president of the Legal Aid Foundation of Long Beach and has served on several other nonprofit and professional boards, including the Long Beach Symphony Association, where he currently serves as board secretary on the executive committee.
Having grown up in Long Beach, Blumberg attended Long Beach schools and earned his bachelor’s degree in music from California State Long Beach in 1972. He went on to earn his juris doctorate from Western State University’s College of Law.
