Terrilynn-Monette-300

Having grown up in Long Beach, Terrilynn Monette was a woman dedicated to teaching the impoverished. After graduating from CSU San Bernardino, she learned of the TeachNOLA program that sends teachers to New Orleans in order to help educationally nourish the marginalized.

In less than two years, Monette was distinguished with a nomination as Teacher of the Year in her district for her work as a second grade teacher at Woodland West Elementary School.

Celebrating that accolade on March 2, the 26-year-old completely vanished after last being seen outside a bar in the Lakeview area of New Orleans. Allegedly claiming intoxication, she informed acquaintances she was going to sleep in her car before driving home.

Terrilynn-Monette-300Now two weeks in, with a candlelight vigil held March 10 at Wilson High from where she graduated, there is still no clear reason as to why she vanished nor is there a lead to where she is.

Monette is described as an African-American female, 5’8″ tall, 180 pounds in weight and a light skin complexion and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a pink and yellow sweater with blue jeans. Unusual markings include a tattoo on her left leg.

The 2012 two-door Honda Accord she was last seen in is also missing. It is black with a Louisiana license plate reading WUN 494.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Terrilynn Monnette is asked to call 504-821-2222.
