lbcconewjoyThe Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra (LBCCO) announced their holiday concert, “New Joy,” hosted by Grace First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 17 and Sunday, December 18, for a weekend filled with celebration.

The program includes works from contemporary American composers, such as “Behold New Joy” by Shawn Kirchner, “Completing the Circle” by Dale Trumbore and “O Magnum Mysterium” by Jennifer Higdon. Guest Conductor Matthew Martinez will lead the chorus during the holiday concert.

“We are thrilled to have such an accomplished choral director conducting our holiday concert,” said LBCCO Artistic Director Eliza Rubenstein in a statement. “Matthew’s infectious enthusiasm, and intuitive and profound musicality will go straight to the heart. I’m sure our audiences will be transported to memories of holidays past, present and future.”

“‘New Joy’ will celebrate the singular spirit of the holiday season as notated by a diverse group of composers,” said Martinez in a statement. “In addition to our classic holiday favorites, it is particularly exciting to perform recent works by local composers who continue to make the Choral world a thriving place to make music.”

The Saturday performance starts at 7:00PM and Sunday at 4:00PM. Refreshments will be provided after the reception, along with a holiday gift basket auction. Tickets are available for $25 and $15 for students with ID.
