The Long Beach Democratic Club held its annual holiday party yesterday, December 16, at the Auld Dubliner in Downtown Long Beach. Those in attendance included Congresswoman Laura Richardson, Senator Alan Lowenthal, Mayor Bob Foster, Assemblymember Betty Karnette, Councilmember Suja Lowenthal, Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell, and Long Beach Community College Board President Doug Otto.
The club awarded Foster Chief of Staff Becki Ames with its GOLD (Genuinely Outstanding Local Democrat) award and held a short meeting to update members on the organization’s accomplishments.
The club also re-elected President James Johnson. Here’s what he had to say about the event…
“I am proud to say that this year’s Long Beach Democratic Club Holiday Party was the most successful one we have had in many years. We went from a small gathering in my living room back in 2006 to packing the Auld Dubliner and raising thousands of dollars for the Club in 2007. The “A Team” of Club Officers–Sam Hall, Sean Petersen, Monica Viramontes, and myself–is ready to make 2008 the year that we take the Club to a whole another level as we work hard to elect and promote those who best represent the community.”
