8:57am | Firefighters kept a raging fire confined to the garage on Saturday, preventing the fire from spreading and saving a home in east Long Beach. No one was injured.

Heavy black smoke and flames poured from the garage of 2880 Heather Road when firefighters at the scene around 3:14pm. They immediately pulled multiple hose lines and entered the fiery garage.

“These swift actions made it possible to quickly extinguish the fire and contain the damage to the garage area and contents,” according to a Long Beach Fire Department press release.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation. The displaced residents declined assistance from the Red Cross.
