After yesterday’s announcement that the popular car show Hot August Nights will be coming to Long Beach in 2011, a small welcoming party was held last night to celebrate the news and roll out a small preview of what’s to come.

The small plaza in front of the Long Beach Convention Center played host to a performance stage and dance floor, with roller girls serving snacks and an array of classic cars. It was just a small taste of the three-day throwback mania event that will occur in August 2011 when the event rolls into downtown Long Beach with a car auction, several exhibitions, concerts and more. Organizers expect more than 800,000 spectators during next year’s event.

Poodle skirts? Check. Beach Boys tribute band? Check. Shelby 427 Cobra? Probably a replica, but still, check.
