Long Beach Cyclist Dies After Being Hit by Big Rig in Los Angeles

A Long Beach man has died after being hit by a big rig on Monday, officials confirmed Wednesday.

The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner identified Jarone Bartee, 42, of Long Beach as the victim in the collision, which occurred around 1:00PM Monday near 21st and Alamedia Streets in Los Angeles, said police and coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey.

According to an investigation, Bartee was riding his bicycle south along the western curb of Alameda Street when he was hit by a big rig. The driver stayed at the scene, police said, and drugs and alcohol were not involved.
