A Long Beach man was killed early this morning in a motorcycle crash on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic, authorities said.

The 62-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was going about 65-70 MPH north of Lake Hughes Road on his 2009 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide in the No. 2 lane of the freeway at about 2:20AM when he struck some wood on the road and was ejected from the bike, according to California Highway Patrol Officer M. Hernandez.

A 60-year-old Canyon Country man was uninjured while riding a 2008 Yamaha Raider motorcycle in the same lane but behind and to the left of the Long Beach man, according to the CHP.

Investigators said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
