3:01pm | Long Beach resident Terry Geiling was earlier this year elected president of the board of directors for the Apartment Association, California Southern Cities Inc. for 2011.

As president of the association, Geiling oversees a 35-member board of directors and a membership of nearly 3,000 rental property owners in the 54 cities of southern Los Angeles County. He is the 87th president since the organization’s founding in 1924. 

Geiling’s career has spanned from service in the U.S. Navy to corporate America and includes numerous civic involvements. 

After receiving a commission in the U.S. Navy, Geiling was assigned to sea duty on a ship home-ported at the former Long Beach Naval Station. He eventually transferred to submarine duty and served as a submarine officer in Pearl Harbor.
 
After completing his active duty, he joined IBM and supported U.S. military intelligence operations in the Pacific. Geiling was promoted to IBM’s regional headquarters in Los Angeles and served in many management positions. 
 
He is currently the president of Gold Star Manor and is the founder of Professional Business Services, both located in Long Beach.

Geiling is a past president of the
Foothill Apartment Association and the Rotary Club of Long Beach.

Assisting Geiling with the leadership of the apartment association this year will be Brad Ward (Ward’s Appliance), secretary; Kurt Wood (Belmont Brokerage and Management), treasurer; Clive Graham (Graham Management Corp.), parliamentarian; Todd Brisco (Todd A. Brisco and Associates APC), immediate past president; Malcolm Bennett (International Realty and Investments), vice president of federal legislation; Carol Chen (Prudential California Realty) and Elaine Hutchison (Paragon Equities), vice presidents of state legislation; and Allen Wood (Merriwood Management Co.), vice president of local legislation. 
 
Heading OCAJ Inc., the association’s for-profit, wholly-owned subsidiary, is Leonardo Wilborn (L.V. & L.B.Wilborn Real Estate Management), president; Marial Sanders (Western Realtors and Property Management), vice president; Ed Arnold (Arnold & Associates), secretary; and Kirk Davey (Loftus & Davey, CPAs), treasurer.
